#1 Tip When Learning a New Skill // Learn From Your Role-Models

Whenever you are learning a new skill or trying to improve yourself, the number one tip I can give you is to contact people and put yourself out there. Personally, the thought of emailing or messaging one of my biggest role models didn’t seem possible in any scenario. Although, this afternoon I sent a message to two of my absolute favorite artists asking for advice.

The only real thing that changed my mind about contacting important people was a little chat I had with my teacher, Elian. This is basically how our conversation went…

After having this really weird but, extremely helpful chat with Elian I learned that the best way to learn something is to be taught by other people. You need to be motivated enough to get yourself out there and start creating a network of people who you can learn from. Knowing people and having a network of people who you can ask questions and talk to is extremely important.

Another thing Elian told me is that “It’s not what you know. It’s who you know.” Building together a large community of friends and smart people is the ultimate path to succeeding in whatever you want to do.

To be completely honest, I am still building my network of people and I know that will never stop. Keep doing things that are outside of your comfort zone and make sure to take a risk every once in a while. Start out by making a list of your biggest role models or people you would love to meet. After that, search them up on social media or find a way to contact them. Then it is all up to you on how you want to approach this nerve-wracking experience.
